Master Altizer has studied Martial Arts for many years and has earned his degrees in Black Belt and Tae Kwon Do through the World Tae Kwon Do Federation. He studied traditional Tae Kwon Do while coaching and competing in the Olympic Sport of Tae Kwon Do. After successfully operating and partnering with a school in Williamsburg, Master Altizer found the need to open his own school in December of 2012.
Master Altizer's dedication to his students and their families goes far beyond that of just the valuable lessons and training he provides. He is always hard at work developing and implementing programs designed to enhance and better the lives of individuals. He strives to inspire and teach his students how to achieve their goals and become strong leaders and role models for future generations.
Bridgette Altizer, Master Altizer's wife, has been practicing Tae Kwon Do for 10 years. She volunteers her time at Freedom Martial Arts to assist in the operations and management of the business. Mrs. Altizer coordinates and is responsible for team planning etc., for the FMA Olympic Sports Team. At times, Mrs. Altizer will assist as an instructor in the classroom along with running camps and teaching Bully Prevention Camps.
She is responsible for implementing and developing the Women’s Wellness Club sponsored by Freedom Martial Arts to promote healthy lifestyles for women. Mrs. Altizer is currently working on creating the Afterschool Enrichment Program for FMA.
In her spare time, she teaches her 3 children and volunteers for the Civil Air Patrol as a service member.
Miss Olivia has been a practitioner of Tae Kwon Do since the age of 4. She is currently working on her 2nd degree Black Belt through the World Tae Kwon Do Federation this fall. In addition to competing on the Senior Elite level at Freedom Martial Arts Olympic Sports team, she also competed in gymnastics and performed many times with the Company’s classical ballet of Eastern Virginia School for the performing Arts at Christopher Newport University.
Olivia performed with the Williamsburg Young String Players in Williamsburg, Virginia performing at the William and Mary Ewell Hall. She has played the violin since the age of 2. She is well diverse in the fine arts but her heart is competing at an Olympic level of Tae Kwon Do.
Miss Olivia has been an instructor at Freedom Martial Arts since 2012 and has been teaching children as young as 3 years to adults. She is one of the head instructors along with her sister Sierra for our Lil' Dragons program ages 3-5 and is in charge of the planning and instruction of this program. Olivia attends Williamsburg Classical Academy in Williamsburg, Virginia and is an honor roll student. She has taken courses in AP psychology, teaching Internships for child development and Forensic Speech, earning high marks for her academic achievements. She has had a great deal of experience teaching, observing and creating lesson plans due to her Internship with WCA teaching 2nd and 3rd grade with an average of 15 students per class. Olivia’s teaching approach is constructive learning and has studied “7 Kinds of Smart” by Thomas Armstrong, PHD.
Among her academic achievements, Miss Olivia has won Gold at numerous tournaments with FMA competing in forms, board breaking and most of all, sparring. Perhaps her greatest accomplishment so far outside of competing at Nationals in 2016, was winning 3 Gold Medals at the 2015 AAU Jr. Olympic Games in Virginia Beach, VA. and placed 3 rd in the overall US girls division.
Miss Olivia volunteers her time as a cadet in the Civil Air Patrol, auxiliary unit for the United States Air Force. She is currently enrolled in courses at Duke University and William and Mary. Her passion is Tae Kwon Do and her goal is to make National Team in 2017.
Miss Sierra started her Tae Kwon Do journey at the early age of 2, becoming known as the youngest student ever in the Do Jang she attended. Sierra is currently working on her 2 nd degree Black Belt through the World Tae Kwon Do Federation expected this fall.
Miss Sierra was a gymnastics competitor for many years earning high marks and GOLD on beam, uneven bars and floor. She also danced classical Ballet and performed with the company of Eastern Virginia School for the Performing Arts in Williamsburg, VA where she performed in the Nutcracker 3 years in a row at Christopher Newport University.
Miss Sierra has earned many gold medals competing at tournaments in Forms, Board Breaking and Sparring. She also won a Gold, Silver and Bronze medal at the 2016 AAU Jr. Olympic Games. Sierra competed in the 2016 AAU Nationals making it all the way to the final quarter round. She trains with many National and Olympic competitors including 10 time Canadian Senior National Team member, Siddhartha Bhat and US National Team Member, Sohwon Kim. In addition, she trained with US Olympian, Phillip Yun and US Olympic Team member, Cheyenne “Chopstick” Lewis.
Miss Sierra teaches our Lil' Dragons program alongside her sister Olivia and is very proficient instructing ages 5 to adult in our regular classes. She currently attends Williamsburg Classical Academy and is working toward taking up the teaching Internship to assist with her ongoing training in “Childhood Development”. Her goal, like her sister, is to make National Team in 2017.
Mr. Huckabee is a veteran, retired from the Navel Weapon Station in Newport News, VA. He is also a 3rd Degree Black Belt and has been an Instructor at Freedom Martial Arts since 2012. He assists in coaching and instructing classes of all ages. Mr. Huckabee is a great friend to Master Altizer and his family in addition to providing excellent support to our FMA families and students.
Andrew Huckabee is a 3 rd degree Black Belt through the World Tae Kwon Do Federation. He is not only a competitor on the Olympic Sport Team but also assist in coaching it. Andrew is an instructor with FMA and assist in promotional testing examinations. He currently attends Williamsburg Classical Academy with excellent academic achievement and was accepted to Governors School for gifted students. He volunteers with his church repairing houses for the impoverished communities.
Jonathan Huckabee is a 2 nd degree Black Belt through the World Tae Kwon Do Federation and is currently an instructor and coach for Freedom Martial Arts. Jonathan, like his brother Andrew, assists in class instruction and promotional testing for examinations. He is a current student with Williamsburg Classical Academy receiving very high marks and academic achievements.
